This collection of donated materials consists of the drafts, research notes, and personal records of the writer and scholar Gary J. Hunter. The materials relate to the book, Neighborhoods of Color: African American Communities in Southern New Jersey, 1638 - 2000, that Gary J. Hunter was working on from 1985 to 2000. Series 1 includes written and typed drafts of Neighborhoods of Color, along with research materials that Hunter used while he worked on the book. Series 2 includes personal documents, such as letters addressed to Gary Hunter, along with research that he did that were unrelated to Neighborhoods of Color. The materials in this collection are in the following formats: paper records, typed drafts, flyers, floppy disks, index cards and photos.
