Correspondence and Receipts, 1897
File — Box: 3, Folder: 4
Identifier: Folder 4
Scope and Contents
From the Series:
Series I consists of various correspondence, receipts, financial and legal records, and notes from Synnott's business ventures throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Business areas of particular interest include his investments with the Montana Railroad Company, the Colorado Gold Mining Company, Tombstone Mining Company, as well as local involvement with the New Jersey State Board of Education, local and national Presbyterian organizations, and his continuing involvement with Whitney Glassworks and various businesses within Glassboro, New Jersey. Correspondence, notes, and financial and legal documents from significant companies or time periods are noted in the folder descriptions.
The organization of this series maintains the chronology of how it was originally processed and cataloged. As a result, certain areas of this series are organized first by year, followed by the alphabetical organization by name or business. Certain folders group multiple documents from the same topic together (for example, all correspondence with the Montana Railroad Company for the year 1897), however the majority of the series follows only chronologically without organization by company, person, or topic.
